Abstract
The aim of this paper is to contribute to the clarification of the meaning of Critical Theory of society in the face of a present increasingly inhabited by right-wing radicalisms. To achieve this goal, certain recent contributions and debates will be considered, and a situated or immanent perspective will be adopted. Firstly, the article will outline the general contours of the conjuncture configured at a global level. In a second section, Critical Theory will be presented as a centenarian tradition of thought which, throughout its historical course, has experienced a profound process of domestication. After considering a set of hypotheses regarding the possible futures of this tradition, in a third and final step, part of the contemporary production of Critical Theory that challenges the aforementioned domestication will be surveyed, with special attention given to those contributions that hold a certain external character.
