Abstract

The proposal of this study is to retake the opening speech of the Central University of Honduras, delivered in 1882 by Ramón Rosa, since it introduced the educational reform inspired by positivism, oriented towards economic and social modernization. This article, of a bibliographi-cal nature, is based on the works of Paulo Freire, especially Pedagogy of the Oppressed, in which he criticizes banking education and presents an emancipatory pedagogy based on the dialogic. In turn, Raul Fornet-Betancourt, through the dialectic of recognition, questions the dominant knowledge and homogeneous education, proposing an intercultural philosophy. The hypothesis proposes that the limitations present in the discourse of the Central University regarding economic and educational development can be overcome through the integration of emancipatory pedagogy and intercultural philosophy, which could generate a transformative educational model for current higher education. The proposal is to articulate both approaches to update the traditional educational model, originally focused on economic modernization, and offer an inclusive, critical and contextualized approach to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
