The problems of images. From a negative praxis towards a cultural claim with the truth

Abstract

The goal of this paper is to inquire about the nature and origin of the meanings associated with the image. Likewise, two onto-epistemic axes will be explored: the representational essence and its forms of manifestation (natural and artificial), in order to approach a horizon of understanding about its limits and possibilities. This will highlight the different positions that have come into conflict, from what they have called negative praxis of the image, originated in antiquity, up to the positions associated with the image as a witness to the truth, derived from the turn towards the image at the end of the 20th century.
